The golf course is challenging, but fair It is very player friendly No hidden tricks or gimmicks here. Voted BC's #1 Hidden Gem in 2012 & 2014, Gold Medallist Kootenay Rockies Region, and #23 Top Track in BC. The Golden Golf Club is an appealing combination of beautifully maintained fairways and untouched wilderness. West of Banff and Lake Louise, Golden is situated in the Columbia Valley between the famous Rocky and the Purcell mountain ranges. Several holes are routed along the bank of the Columbia River, and from many parts of the course a person can view the lush slopes of the Kicking Horse resort. The course was built in two phases. Bill Newis designed the front nine, a stunning course which opened in 1986. In 1996 Les Furber created the back nine, which is arguably his finest 9-hole layout. Although different architects designed the two nines, they complement each other perfectly.
